The Toys are Tools Blog is one of our favorites when it comes kid-testing and thoughtful reviews. It is all about the educational and skill building without sacrificing fun. They just reviewed our game Categories. Categories is full of friendly faces doing all sorts of funny things, playing with balls, wearing hats, eating snacks! The objective is to find sets of three that one trait in common, for example, they are all eating.

The expert  Nicole Kolenda, M.S., CCC-SLP, P.C., Speech & Language Pathologist and Jenn both took a look at this game. I think they nailed it when they write,  ”For the eeBoo cards, I think kids need the time to observe and really look at everything….you can’t just LOOK, you have to THINK about what you are looking at.”

Design Tiles got a whole page feature in the holiday gift guide!

We’re so proud Design Tiles made a big splash in Canadian Family’s Holiday Gift Guide in their November magazine.

If you haven’t read Jen Choi’s review of this product on her blog:  Toys are Tools you should take a moment to give it a read through! Jen’s thoughtful reviews and creative toy testers ended hit on many of the high points of Design Tiles: an art medium that doesn’t require drawing, detail oriented, pattern recognition and more. But our favorite point the review makes is towards the end. Design Tiles teaches one “How to make sense without saying a word!”

Thanks Canadian Family and Toys are Tools!

Ocean Magazine, a travel magazine for women, featured eeBoo’s picnic game as a great go to activity when enjoying fall picnics. They write, “one of the most enthralling games for a small group to indulge.” We love it because it is great for mixed ages and doubles as a play set!

eeBoo’s Obstacles as seen by Education Week:Teachers

Posted by design on Sep 11, 2013 in Press Articles, Product Feature

We actually stumbled across this review–which always makes a review like this extra special! Tamara Fisher, a writer for the blog and a gifted education specialist, found Obstacles at her local toy store. It is worth reading the review in the whole, but her general point is creativity is declining, “Of possible concern regarding creativity is apparent evidence based on research that children’s creativity .. has been declining in recent decades” but games such as Obstacles can counter act this decline and  ”be a fun way to encourage kids to think innovatively about how to solve problems and overcome barriers.”  Visit the blog to read the whole review: Obstacles as a Path to Creativity.

I love that Tamara touches on the flexibility of Obstacles’ rules. Her and her fellow players also came up with some stunning solutions! “Our solution to the Ice Obstacle involved placing the cushion on the shower curtain, using the stick of butter to grease up the shower curtain’s surface area on the ice, and pulling the cord from around the cushion to attach from the shower curtain to the giant bird who would fly and pull us across the ice as we used the feather duster for a stabilizing rudde.r”

Thanks Tamara for the great review!

New York Family Magazine: eeBoo’s Pencils a “Wish List Wonder”!

Posted by design on Nov 4, 2011 in Press Articles, Product Feature

This month, as the first snows fall, lights decorate trees along Park Avenue, and both Lincoln and Rockefeller Centers set up their festive trees, New Yorkers are starting to think about gifts and the holiday season! New York Family Magazine has made its Holiday recommendations, and we’re happy to share that eeBoo’s 24 Color A Walk to the Sea Watercolor Pencils are included!

The pencils were selected as one of the magazine’s Wish List Wonders, heaping noteworthy praise that they are great for “creative Kiddos ” and that they “erase the choice between pencils and paint”!  Our Watercolor Pencils have long been an eeBoo favorite, loved both for their quality and the loveliness of the design. Paired with our Walk to the Sea Sketchbook, the pencils make the perfect two-part gift! Please get in the spirit with us…New Yorker or otherwise.

Update: The price for the pencils listed in the magazine,$20.95, is actually the suggested retail price for A Walk to the Sea Watercolor Pencil & Sketchbook set. Watercolor Pencils alone start at $15.00.

Model Retailer Magazine, an industry trade publication that covers craft and hobby trends for retail owners and entrepreneurs,  has joined in the chorus of praise for Obstacles and Sidewalk Games!  Both games are included in the feature story entitled “Play Your Heart Out,” which highlights games meant “to delight and challenge” customers.

eeBoo’s greatest aim is to make games that are both delightful and challenging to children! Praise for Obstacles in San Diego Family Magazine!

Posted by design on Oct 19, 2011 in Press Articles, Product Feature

This month, Obstacles will be featured in San Diego Family Magazine.

After it was given to a family to try, the game won this rave review, an excerpt of which will be printed in the November issue out today, October 21st:

Pleasant SurprisesWe took it to dinner with us and it was great for the table-very easy to understand the directions and travels well.

What is one thing that other parents should know about this toy? This is an inexpensive game that kept our kids entertained and using their imagination.

What did your child like best about this game? Using his imagination and creativity.

Child’s quote: This game is SO MUCH FUN!

Additional Comments: This game is great for kids of all ages. We highly recommend it! Ryan’s sister and friend (ages 9) had just as much fun playing. It kept them occupied and they played the game 3 or 4 times in a row. I was surprised at how much the kids (kindergardener and 4th grader) enjoyed playing this game together. It was a big hit!

Obstacles, eeBoo’s first cooperative game, has been creating something of a buzz! Since its release, Obstacles has been awarded a platinum Oppenheim, been featured on the Today Show and been highlighted by a growing number of regional parenting guides and trade publications.
